When thinking about the landscape of Education Technology (EdTech) Tools, it can be hard to know where to start. The territory is vast…and cluttered…and it can be hard to select a pedagogically useful (and easy to learn and use!) tool for both you and your students. Happily, there’s a solid crowd-sourced, searchable database which faculty might find helpful.
The EmTechWIKI Essential Tools database is, per the website “a socially-curated discovery engine to locate freely available tools, mobile apps, tutorials, and resources.” Searchable categories include areas such as “Accessibility”, “Gamification”, and “Presentations”; each tool is given a paragraph or so description of what it does and how it might be used. No site is perfect, but if you are looking for a solid place to start investigating the EdTech tools that are out there, give this Wiki a try!
